The Cordillera Huayhuash was usually started in Chiquian (31 Km. of Conococha) to the northwest, but now can be started from Cuartelwain, because there is a dirty road from Chiquian to Huallanca that cross near to Matacancha camp; the other start point, sometimes used as ending point of the circuit is Cajatambo located at 300 Km. of Lima.
ItineraryDay 1: Huaraz – Chiquian – Llamac – Matacancha (4150m)
Day 2: Matacancha – Paso Qaqanan (4700m) – Mitucocha lake
Day 3: Mitucocha lake – Carhuac pass (4650m) – Carhuacocha lake
Day 4: Caruhacocha lake – Siula lake (4800m) – Huayhuash
Day 5: Huayhuash – Portachuelo pass(4.750m) – Viconga lake
Day 6: Viconga lake – Pumarinri
Day 7: Pumarinri – Cajatambo
Day 8: Cajatambo – Pativilca – Lima or Huaraz
